This scrappy patchwork quilt is an extra large queen size. Beautifully rustic colors bring to mind a fall woodland with some of the cotton prints featuring fall leaves. Predominantly brown and beige tones with significant forest green, country red, burnt orange and antique gold. Together they create a warm, inviting look.
Size is about 100 x 92 inches with a drop of about 15 inches down the sides of the bed. This is a generously sized queen quilt.
Scrap quilts are always one of a kind. I always think that part of their unique appeal comes from the reminder of old fashioned, traditional practicality of our ancestors who were expert in creating beauty despite the necessity for thriftiness.
I have washed this quilt in a front load washer using regular settings and regular laundry soap, drying on warm heat. This has relaxed the fabrics and created the soft crinkly look that we associate with old fashioned quilts. This is also the preshrink so that it will not shrink anymore. If your washer has an agitator, I recommend using a delicate cycle just to be safe. Otherwise it is easy care. I routinely wash my own quilts in regular wash loads with no extra fussing.
The majority of the fabrics are cotton with a few poly cotton blends thrown in. Quilting is done by freemotion (hand guided machine stitching, not computer) in an all over echoed leaf design. Binding is attached by machine with neat mitered corners. This makes a nice durable finish.
